I feel so unsure
as I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor
as the music dies, something in your eyes
calls to mind the silver screen
and all its sad good-byes
I’m never gonna dance again
guilty feet have got no rhythm
though it’s easy to pretend
I know you’re not a fool
Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
and waste the chance that I’ve been given
so I’m never gonna dance again
the way I danced with you
Time can never mend
the careless whispers of a good friend
to the heart and mind
ignorance is kind
there’s no comfort in the truth
pain is all you’ll find
I’m never gonna dance again
guilty feet have got no rhythm
though it’s easy to pretend
I know you’re not a fool
Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
and waste this chance that I’ve been given
so I’m never gonna dance again
the way I danced with you
Never without your love
Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
Maybe it’s better this way
We’d hurt each other with the things we’d want to say
We could have been so good together
We could have lived this dance forever
But noone’s gonna dance with me
Please stay
And I’m never gonna dance again
guilty feet have got no rhythm
though it’s easy to pretend
I know you’re not a fool
Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
and waste the chance that I’ve been given
so I’m never gonna dance again
the way I danced with you
(Now that you’re gone) Now that you’re gone
(Now that you’re gone) What I did’s so wrong
that you had to leave me alone
Debate On “Legal & Ethical Issues Of Advertising”
March 19, 2008
Human beings are world creators. One of the worlds that human beings have created
is the world of money, commodities, trade, exchange. To me, it’s a world full of beauty
and ugliness in equal proportions, messy, flashy, exotic, scary. No-one who has made
their home in this world would see this the way an outsider — and being a
philosopher makes me by definition an outsider — can see this.
I regard the business arena — the world of buyers and sellers, bosses and workers,
producers and consumers, the world of money — as nothing less than an ontological
category, a way of Being. It is not accidental to who we are. It defines the way we relate
to each other and to the world around us. But it is not the only way of Being. There are
other ways, and the most fundamental of these is ethics.
As a professional metaphysician, I am fascinated by the idea that human beings can
belong to more than one world, or move between worlds. Anthropologists who ‘go
native’ in order to study their subjects more closely have an inkling of what I am
talking about. We live in the marketplace and also outside it. We can play the various
roles assigned to us in the game, or we can stand outside our economic personae and
observe ourselves from an ethical point of view. The only difference between us and
the anthropologist is that, most of the time, we don’t realize that we are doing this.
In my recent article, The Business Arena, I put forward three propositions, as a
‘prolegomenon to a philosophy for business’:
Business and commerce take place in a frame, an arena defined by unwritten
rules.
Within the business arena, normal ethics is suspended.
The aim of a philosophy for business is to understand the rules that define
the business arena, in other words, to grasp from an ethical perspective how
business is possible.
To claim that in the business world ‘normal ethics is suspended’ is not to deny the
validity of rules of conduct, such as fairness and honesty. Without these universal
rules, these values, the game could not be played. However, these obligations fall far
short of the demands of ethics,
To claim that in the business world ‘normal ethics is suspended’ is not to deny the
validity of rules of conduct, such as fairness and honesty. Without these universal
rules, these values, the game could not be played. However, these obligations fall far
short of the demands of ethics,
When a consumer buys an Apple Mac, the value of the product is not just its beauty
and functionality, but the love that has been lavished on it. The image that the
advertisers have created is not only true, but also enhances the pleasure of using the
product.
But we’re on risky ground here. Consider the religious cults who send their followers
on the streets seeking converts. They believe in the dream that they are selling too.
Even if the dream selling is not done cynically, it all-too easily becomes an attempt to
brainwash, to control.
A campaign which Apple ran a couple of years ago featured ‘real people’ explaining
why they switched to Macs and recounting the misery of badly designed, unreliable
PCs. The campaign backfired because PC users found it offensive, while Mac users
resented being patronised. They were rudely awakened from the dream.
I raised the question whether it is possible to be an ethical advertiser — in the true
sense of ‘ethical’, and not merely in the minimalist, legal sense of respecting the rules
that govern play in the business arena, such as honesty and fairness.
I have argued that reflection on what ethics demands makes the hurdles impossibly
high. The stark truth is that manufacturers and advertisers are as much controlled by
the fickle consumer as in control. Rules can be set down concerning what is factually
truthful, decent and fair. It is not the advertiser’s job to make people better than they
are, or want better things than they want. That is the work for politicians and
preachers, or, possibly, philosophers.
Goodevvening all of u This is Nikhil jain & I am here to present my views refuting ` the topic- “Convergence Media & its impact on political communication.”First of all ,what does this word political communication means. In the most lucid language, political communication refers to the conveyance of political party’s idea to the masses. The field of political communication can be further categorised into 2 main areas that are –
- Election campaigns – Political communications deals with campaigning for elections.
- Political communications is one of the Government operations. This role is usually fullfiled by the Ministry of Communications and or Information Technology. The ministry is behind the communication legislation. The Ministry of Communications is responsible for setting telecommunications policy and regulations. It issues broadcasting licenses, comments press releases, etc…
According to James Chesebro, there are five critical approaches to contemporary Political communications: 1 Machiavellian – ie power relationships 2. Iconic – symbols 3. Ritualistic – manipulation of symbols. 4. Confirmation – people endorsement 5. Dramatistic – politics symbolically constructed.Today the political comm. Is considered largely dependent on media efficacy & prowess.Political parties spend a considerably huge amount of money on media propagations. This has reduced media’s role to a political media only which is totally aginst the fundamental principle of free & unbiased media in democracy. The idea that the modern mass media have a strong and malign effect on many aspects of social and political life is widely accepted and strongly held. Television is often said to undermine democratic government popular support for leaders and institutions. In spite of all that has been written about media convergence & political comm interdependence, both theory and evidence suggests that the media are a comparatively weak force whose effects can be deflected, diluted and diffused by stronger forces. These include bedrocks political values associated with class, religion, age, gender and education, as well as social networks and discussions. Not to forget distrust of the mass media, and personal knowledge and experience of the voter play a critical role. Equally, the variables that mediate the media may also magnify its effects so that what appears to be a large media effect is, in fact, the result of an interaction between the media and other forces.Warren Buffet Once said –“ the most effective advertising is not necessarily for the most effective product.”In the present scenario too dis holds very true & the presnt generatin has understood dis fact & now takes its decision after a thorough understanding of the product, whether it is a refrigerator or a politician. Thus, all we can say is that convergent media has lost all its impact on political communication. The most recent example of media influence free politics is The Russian Presidential election of 2008, held on March 2, 2008 [1] resulted in the election of Dmitry Medvedev, who defeated many of the world famous candidates including Gary Kasparov.Talking about U.S. elections,Three candidates, Clinton, Obama, and Romney, raised over $20 million in the first three months of 2007 & despite of that are still fighting over the nomination while the underdog,John MdcCain has already overtaken them.In India’s context,we have examples like samaj vadi party failure despite of much hype & hoolah given to their bharat uday, change of government in Bihar despite of grandiose support from the media to lalu & many more. Thus,in all likelihood,we can say that media convrgence has got no impact on political comm.Today’s generation, the generation X,does not get carried away by media attention given to the candidate, but rather pays much more attention on the capabilites of the candidate while judging him.Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HANNAH MONTANA LYRICS

Oh yeah
Come on
You get the limo out front
Hottest styles, every shoe, every color
Yeah, when you’re famous it can be kinda fun
It’s really you but no one ever discovers
In some ways you’re just like all your friends
But on stage you’re a star
You get the best of both worlds
Chill it out, take it slow
Then you rock out the show
You get the best of both worlds
Mix it all together and you know that it’s the best of both worlds
The best of both worlds
You go to movie premiers (is that Orlando Bloom?)
Hear your songs on the radio
Livin’ two lives is a little weird
But school’s cool cause nobody knows
Yeah you get to be a small town girl
But big time when you play your guitar
You get the best of both worlds
Chill it out, take it slow
Then you rock out the show
You get the best of both worlds
Mix it all together and you know that it’s the best of both
You know the best of both worlds
Pictures and autographs
You get your face in all the magazines
The best part is that you get to be who ever you wanna be
(Best! Best!) Yeah, the best of both!
(Best! Best!) You got the best of both!
(Best! Best!) Come on, the best of both!
Who would of thought that a girl like me
Would double as a superstar
You get the best of both worlds
Chill it out, take it slow
Then you rock out the show
You get the best of both worlds
Mix it all together and you know that it’s the best of both worlds
You get the best of both worlds
Without the shades and the hair
You can go anywhere
You get the best of both girls
Mix it all together
Oh, yeah
It’s so much better ’cause you know you’ve got the best of both worlds
